At a young age I developed a natural affinity for the water and swimming. I knew throughout high school that the Navy would be a good fit for me and was a leader in NJROTC. Immediately following high school in 2001 I signed up for the US Navy and was a Missile/Radar technician for 4 years at which time I wanted to pursue a BS degree and enjoy the college life. Ironically it wasn’t until then that I discovered the world of commercial diving through an acquaintance. At first I was drawn to the field because of the prestige and reaction the divers I knew would generate when they would tell stories of life offshore in the Gulf of Mexico. I then tried diving on a recreational level by obtaining my Open Water certification through PADI. There is nothing on Earth that can compare to taking your first breath of air… while underwater. I knew from that point on I wanted to be a diver. After a 6 month dive school, I started my diving career with Oceaneering Inc. I realized that diving afforded me a sense of passion and challenge like no other career could. In addition to my experience in the Gulf of Mexico, I have also gained knowledge and experience of underwater construction and maintenance of the Inland side of diving while working with Marine Technologies Inc., which is how I met Ken Barrick and began my career at Eastern Marine Services. He presented me this great opportunity to be a part of something new and different to the Baltimore area with a smaller commercial diving company
